Plan Entertainments for Winter Evenings; Knights of Columbus Banquet.

__ BERKELEY Feb. 4.--Midwinter social gatherings and entertainments are engaging the attention of fraternal organizations in Berkeley.
__ Philip M. Carey is chariman of a committee appointed by Berkeley council, Knights of Columbus, to arrange for a banquet to be given Thursday evening, February 9, at Hotel Shattuck, which will establish the custom of holding an annual banquet by the council. Extensive plans are being made for the affair. Among the special guests of the evening will be a number of state officers and the grand knights of Oakland and San Francisco councils. The banquet will be followed by dancing and a program. Assisting Carey in making the plans for the event are T. J. Rahill, J. W. Flinn, E V McGinty and T. Frank McGowan.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HOLD ANNUAL BANQUET

__ BERKELEY, Feb. 11.--Members of Berkeley Council, Knights of Columbus, and their wives and friends attended a banquet at the Hotel Shattuck Thursday evening. It was the new organization's first annual dinner. More than 150 Knights were in attendance.
__ Grand Knight C. D. Maloney of Berkeley council was toastmaster and among the speakers were James Keith, San Francisco, Neil Power, J. S. Morrissey, [Hubert] J. Quinn, Vincent A. Dodd and J. E. Mullen, Oakland, Rev Father Thos. P. Kennedy, Joseph [J?]. Kennedy, and Past Grand Knights Dr J. Miller, Frank Cereni, and Vincent A. Dodd, and Deputy District Attorney Phillip M. Carey.
__ Following the banquet, a musical program and dancing were provided for the guests. The musical program was as follows:

Berkeley Council Makes Preliminary Plans for Lot and Building.

__ BERKELEY, March 18.--Although but five months old, Berkeley Council, No. 1499, Knights of Columbus, has started a campaign for a building. The home is to be an expensive one, although the exact cost has not been decided upon.
__ A committee is to be appointed by Grand Knight C. D. Maloney within two weeks to plan for the purchase of a building site.
__ "We believe in beginning early," said Maloney this morning. "Our plan will be something like that of the local Elks. We will first purchase a lot and then sell stock in a hall association to raise funds for building."

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS TO OPEN HEADQUARTERS
Old Y.M.C.A. Secured by Newly Organized Society

__ BERKELEY, May 3.--Part of the second floor of the old Y.M.C.A building in Allston way will be fitted up for the headquarters of Berkeley council No. 1499, Knights of Columbus, following a decision of the council last night. The new lodgerooms will be officially opened at a house warming tomorrow night.
__ Milton Schwartz, Joseph Roseborough and others will contribute to the program. A large attendance is expected. The Knights of Columbus quartet is on the program, the details of which are being arranged by Grand Knight C. D. Maloney.
__ A regular meeting of the council will precede the entertainment.

Berkeley Knights of Columbus Entertain Returned Pastor

__ BERKELEY, June 12.--A banquet was given Saturday evening by Berkeley council No. 1499, Knights of Columbus, in honor of Dr. F. X. Morrison, pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic church of Berkeley, who recently returned from a trip abroad. The banquet was held in the new headquarters of the council in the former Young Men's Christian association building in Allston way. The pastor gave an interesting account of his travels in Europe and complimented the Knights of Columbus upon their new headquarters.

__ Never before in the history of Oakland council, Knights of Columbus, was there so notable a gathering of the Knights as that which marked the special service held Sunday last in St. Joseph's church in Alameda, when the Knights attended communion and later made a trip by automobile to Mission San Jose, where another religious service marked the day.
__ Oakland council Knights of Columbus has steadily grown in strength since its organization and is now one of the most influential in the order.
__ At the gathering Sunday leading members were present from all parts of the state. Following the services at St. Joseph's church the Knights, numbering over 350, had breakfast at the Young Men's Institute hall, served by the wives of Alameda Knights and young ladies of St. Joseph's parish.
__ After breakfast, Hubert J. Quinn, grand knight of Oakland council, introduced a number of speakers, including the following: Rev. P. A. Foley, rector of St. Joseph's church, who welcomed the Knights; Neal Power of San Francisco, state deputy of the order in California; James M. Hanley, grand knight of California council, K. of C.; T. L. O'Brien, grand knight of San Francisco council, K. of C.; Vincent Dodd, district deputy; C. D. Maloney, grand knight of Berkeley council; Rev. T. J. O'Connell, Joseph J. Rosborough and Joseph A. Kennedy, past district deputies, and Dr. Joseph G. Morrisey, past grand knight of San Francisco council.
__ Over sixty automobiles were used to convey the knights to the old mission at Mission San Jose, there to attend the benediction of the most blessed sacrament.
__ The exercises for the day came to a close at 3 p.m.
__ Vincent Dodd was chairman of the committee in charge of the arrangements for the program of yesterday.
