"...THE GREATEST OF ALL VIRTUES, CHARITY September 1986

September 3, 1986 - Officers' Meeting at the Hall, 7:30 p.m.
September 3 - Regular Business Meeting at the Hall, 8 p.m.
September 11 - Hall Association Meeting at the Hall, 7:30 p.m.
September 17 - Regular Business Meeting at the Hall, 8 p.m.

GRAND KNIGHT'S MESSAGE

My job as your incoming Grand Knight has been made much easier
with the splendid cooperation on the part of the main corps of officers.
For instance, by now, all assignments have been made, including that of
the various directorships that have to do with fulfilling those aims
which the Supreme Council prescribes as essential - they are your thrust
for impetus as a Council, in the year ahead. Elsewhere, you will see
these assignments listed.
I would hereby request that the chair officers strive to attend the
2 monthly meetings, if it can be done, recognising, of course, there are
mitigating circumstances, as we caln all understand. We have lacked a
quorum, on a number of occasions, during the more recept past. We will
endeavor to hold the line on any lengthy meetings; only the bare essen-
tials required to handle tings, will be the by-word.
Thanks, again, for your cooperation.

Al Viarengo, Grand Knight

CHAPTER AGENDA IMMEDIATELY AHEAD

As relates to the Oakland Diocese Chapter, whereby we gain informa-
tion that affects us, of the area we are in, and of wath is transpiring,
these (3) Chapter dates occurring in September, follows:
Friday, Sept. 19 - Monthly chapter meeting, at Our Lady of
Mercy, 301 W. Richmond Ave., Pt. Richmond,
8 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 21 - The installation of the '86-87 Chapter offi-
cers occurs at the 8:30 a.m. Mass, St. Marg-
aret Mary's Church, 1219 Excelsior Ave., Oak-
land. Breakfast follows at the Edgewater Hyatt,
Oakland. Outgoing letters & tickets will flow
in the immediate weeks ahead. Richard Dey, 427-
5329,is the general chairman.
Sunday, Sept. 28 - The annual Chapter B-B-Q fund-raiser, 2 p.m.,
St. Agnes, Concord. Some thought is being giv-
en to having Councils buy 10 tickets, to sell,
or, however, to help assure its success.

ITEMS OF INTEREST

At this writing, Father Francis Geisser, of Japan, who is on a
month's visit to his native Switzerland, had not, as yet, stopped by
this way. We presume he went on directly to Switzerland. There is al-
so a Bethlehem Fathers Mission House, in Colorado, he, presumably,
would visit. We will await futher word.
The Golden Bear Project ( a 5-story, block-long building), on
University Avenue, downtown Berkeley (opposite our hall), is rapidly
nearing completion. Fresh new sidewalks abound it now.

CHAPTER'S 86-87 OFFICERS

A recap of the Oakland Diocese Chapter's '86-87 officers is
given, herewith: President, Frank Martin, Vice-President, Jim Vigus,
Secretary, Raymond Pacovsky, Treasurer, Paul Zinsky, Marshall, David
Jackson, Advocate, Forrest Krabbe and Chapter Observor, Caesar Gomes.

OUR LADY OF MERCY CHURCH

Our Lady of Mercy Church, 301 W. Richmond Ave., Pt. Richmond,
celebrates its 84th Anniversary, Sunday, September 7, 1986. A New
York steak barbecue priced @ $8.00 is occurring, 1-5 p.m. The proceeds
from the event will be used towards financing construction of a long-
anticipated ramp alongside the building for side entrance to the beaut-
iful church. A neighbor church, the Methodist Church, is graciously de-
nating a portion of their property so as to make this project possible.

DO YOU REMEMBER?

Perhaps, you retain a cher-
ished memory of your activity in
Berkeley Council, over the years.
Your editor would like to hear of
a memory you cherish. With base-
ball season still upon us, a few
brothers may recall attending a
Quarterly Communion Mass-Break-
fast, at St. Mary Magdalenes,
where, at the breakfast, the
speaker, obtained through the
efforts of Frank Murphy, was the
Giants' Walter Mails. The date,
early February, in the mid-60s.

CONTACTS

The Chapter's Blood Bank
chrmn. is now John Dion, 848-0321.
John is also the Council's Credit
Union representative. He wil be
pleased to help you in both of
these vital areas.
