Before the regular business of the meeting was taken
up President Gaines welcomed the "stockholders" of the City to
whom he had sent special invitations to attend the meeting in
order to afford them an opportunity to see how the procedure
of the Board of Directors operates.
He first introduced the members of the Council to the
"stockholders" and then they in turn were introduced to the
Council.

Berkeley, California,
Wednesday, January 21, 1942.

President Gaines stated the meeting was called to
consider the petition of the Knights of Columbus Hall
Association of Berkeley requesting the reclassification of the
property at the northwest corner of University Avenue and Milvia
Street from Class II to Class VIII, under Ordinance No. 2180-N.S.,
which was laid on the table at the last meeting, also,
to consider the revision of the budget for the balance of the
fiscal year.

City Manager Fisk stated that the resolution accepting
the deed conveying certain real property for street and
highway purposes had been prepared and he was ready to present
it after they had taken action on the rezoning.
Councilman Martin moved that the matter be taken off
the table.
The motion was seconded by Councilman Herrick and
adopted. Councilman Berg voting "no".
On motion of Councilman Berg, seconded by Councilman
Hoyt, a Bill was passed to print reclassifying the property as
requested, provided the Knights of Columbus Hall Association
deed to the City certain described property for street purposes
so that the corner can be rounded off and that they pay the
cost, not to exceed $100, for moving the electrolier at this
corner.
City Manager Fisk, thereupon, presented the resolution
accepting the deed from the Association for street and highway
purposes.
On motion of Councilman Martin, seconded by Councilman
Herrick, the resolution was adopted by unanimous vote.
